Patient Services

The Bloodworks Northwest is the resource for patients in Western Washington who need blood, tissue and specialized laboratory services. Founded in 1944, the Blood Center has evolved from a community blood bank to a regional leader for medical care and research.

The scope of our operations has expanded to meet the demands of a growing population, the needs of new, advanced medical treatments and the challenges of the changing healthcare environment. Today, more than 800 employees provide services to help meet the transfusion-related needs of patients in more than 70 Western Washington hospitals and clinics.

At the forefront of Bloodworks Northwest’s direct care programs is our Patient Services department. Combining quality care and individualized attention with state-of-the-art cell separation and transfusion technology, Patient Services provides a broad scope of procedures both in hospitals and at Blood Center facilities.

Your Partner in Patient Care

Bloodworks Northwest’s Patient Services program offers patients more than just another procedure in the course of their treatment. Our caring professional staff are ready with a warm smile at a difficult time, a clear explanation of a complicated procedure, and the reassurance of the best possible care.

For patients, this combination of expertise and personalized care means peace of mind and heightened confidence in their overall care program.

Patient Services is a resource-effective alternative to provider-maintained therapeutic apheresis and outpatient transfusion programs. Whether providing therapeutic plasma exchange, cellular depletion procedures, component transfusions or peripheral stem cell collection, Patient Services offers a seamless transition between provider and procedure.

Patient Services’ registered nursing staff is supported by the resources of an organization recognized as a national leader in transfusion and transplantation medicine. As part of our comprehensive services, Blood Center hematologists, all professors and experts in transfusion medicine, are available 24-hours a day, seven days a week to consult with physicians.

With mobile staff and equipment to administer procedures in hospitals and dedicated resources at our facilities, Patient Services serves patients where they need it, when they need it. Working with a physicians’ prescription, staff closely monitor each procedure to ensure processing parameters are adjusted to provide maximum therapeutic benefit.

Patient Services guarantee: quality care efficiency and strict adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices.

Your gift of blood, time or money saves lives.
