Bloodworks Northwest Laboratories

Hemostasis Reference Laboratory

The Hemostasis Laboratory evaluates bleeding and thrombotic disorders. Patient evaluations are referred from: community hospitals and healthcare providers in the Blood Center’s region and other communities in Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and nationwide. We also provide core laboratory services and research assays which could involve contract testing and product development.

Bloodworks Northwest’s Community Hemostasis Reference Laboratory has over 25 years of experience in providing quality hemostatic evaluations including testing, interpretation of results and patient evaluations. Director, Dr. Barbara Konkle, is an academic hematologist with extensive clinical and research expertise in the diagnosis and management of individuals with hereditary or acquired bleeding or thrombotic disorders. The laboratory features considerable technical experience in a wide variety of instrumentation, reagents and available specialty testing with extensive Quality Assurance and CLIA-approved procedures. Phone consultation is available from the Blood Center at any time and outpatient evaluations, for patients with bleeding disorders, can be scheduled.

The Blood Center’s Blood Component Therapy, Hemophilia Care and Apheresis programs are supported by the Hemostasis Laboratory and testing is also available for various research protocols.

The hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

The analytic times for testing are based on a routine work schedule. Turnaround time can be altered based on clinical need and pre-approval by a Blood Center Director or the Hemostasis Laboratory staff.
